Advice and Support
Free help and advice is available to both sellers and buyers from The Franchise Company, who are established franchise consultants and BFA affiliates; at kr@franchisecompany.co.uk
Selling
The seller must provide clear and concise information about the franchise business and be able to quickly identify (for the buyers benefit) exactly how the selling price is made up and what the franchisor’s role is in the resale process. For example what period has the existing franchise agreement left before renewal or will the franchisor offer a new term to the eventual buyer. What fees (if any) will the franchisor charge for training the buyer, re launching the area, etc. etc. and how will that affect the way the selling price is presented to the buyer, so does the selling price include the franchisor’s fees or must the buyer negotiate twice? In our experience an all inclusive price produces the best results for all concerned and speeds up the process.
The buyer should be confident about the funds available so that when appropriate they can make a firm offer in principle subject to the franchisor’s conditions.
Buying
The Franchise-Resale website puts you in touch with the seller directly, so there are no middle men to deal with and the transaction moves at the pace you and the seller determine.
Buying an existing franchise business should represent an excellent opportunity for you to take control of a business with an existing customer base and develop it further, and remember you will have the advantage of the support and advice you will receive from your franchisor.
Franchising is acknowledged as offering a far better chance of succeeding in business because of the strength of the franchise relationship that exists between the franchisee and franchisor, it’s your business but you’re not alone, you have the franchise network around you.
Finding a franchise that suits your life style requirements and budget usually takes time and should include; researching your market, having a clear understanding of what you will or can do on a day to day basis, and satisfying yourself that the financial returns you need are available. Buying a franchise resale will require your time and attention, to check the information provided and meet the franchisor’s requirements. The resale process will vary from franchise to franchise and therefore at some point you should seek independent professional advice before progressing to completion. Remember the adage ‘the devil’s in the detail’.
To find a franchise resale in your area simply click on a ‘Region’ button to the left hand side of the page followed by County. Alternatively you may wish to search by ‘Price Range’ or ‘Industry Category’.
